Department of Engineering Technologies Mechatronics

The Mechatronics Department was established in 2024 and is considered a modern department that keeps pace with advancements in robotics and the automation of factories and plants. Students are taught a range of engineering knowledge, including electrical and mechanical engineering, advanced software supporting artificial intelligence, and modern control systems used in robot management and system automation. Mechatronics engineering graduates work in design, maintenance, and development across numerous sectors, including industrial and manufacturing sectors, transportation-related industries (such as automobiles, railways, and aircraft), mechanical structure design, electronic devices, and software design. They also work in production, management, and sales, medical equipment and robotics, defense and security systems and robotics, the smart consumer products industry, petrochemicals, food processing, and more.

To provide students with the engineering knowledge and practical skills required to analyze, design, program, and apply mechatronics systems in order to serve the community, local and regional industry, and to advance scientific research in this field.

1. Successfully adapt to situations arising throughout career paths within the global job market by utilizing the fundamental knowledge and background of mechatronics engineering in the fields of electrical and electronics science, computer science, thermal and fluid mechanics, materials science, machine design and production engineering, robotics, communications, artificial intelligence, and automation. This can also be achieved through postgraduate studies.

2. Apply design methodologies to mechatronics engineering by integrating design standards, realistic constraints, and consideration of the economic, environmental, and social impact of the design.

3. Participate in professional service, such as engaging in professional societies and consistently upholding and supporting professional ethics.

4. Conduct theoretical and applied research in mechatronics engineering that impacts the economic development of society.

5. Maintain a continuous commitment to professional development through lifelong learning activities, fostering self-confidence, creativity, and leadership.

 

Program Objective: To equip students with the engineering knowledge and practical skills required to analyze, design, program, and apply mechatronics systems to serve the community and local and regional industry, and to advance scientific research in this field.

Study Format and Duration: Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Technology, a four-year program with courses taught over two semesters each year.

Learning Environment and Course Assessment: The program will be taught in Arabic and English on campus. Course materials and a list of suggested readings will be provided to help students grasp the fundamental concepts of mechatronics technology. There will be exams for each course, midterms, and project papers, in addition to a final exam, which is usually held at the end of the academic year.

Graduation Requirements: Students are required to successfully complete 47 courses and research projects, in addition to 157 credit hours.
