The Department of Building and Construction Technologies—specializing in Architectural Conservation and Sustainable Buildings—was established in 2025 at the Technical College of Hawija, Northern Technical University. The department aims to prepare technical professionals specialized in modern construction and architecture. It focuses on training students in sustainable construction techniques and the preservation of architectural heritage within engineering projects. The department provides an advanced educational environment that combines theoretical study with practical application through laboratory work and field projects.. The department also participates in workshops and conferences related to architecture and sustainable construction. Program Objective:
The primary objective is to prepare specialized technical professionals in the fields of modern construction and architecture, with a focus on architectural heritage preservation and the application of sustainable building principles. The program aims to empower graduates to contribute to the development of sustainable construction projects and the preservation of historical buildings by providing high-level engineering and technical solutions for design, execution, and maintenance, while also enhancing skills in research and sustainable urban planning.Format and Duration:
A Bachelor’s degree program in Building and Construction Technologies—specializing in Architectural Preservation and Sustainable Buildings—spanning four academic years, with two semesters per year.Learning Environment and Course Assessment:
The program is taught in both Arabic and English on campus, with study materials and required reading lists provided to help students grasp key concepts in sustainable construction and architecture. Student assessment includes course-specific exams, mid-term tests, and project papers, in addition to a final examination typically held at the end of each academic year.
Graduation Requirements:
Students are required to successfully complete 47 courses and a research project, totaling 157 credit units.
