The Women's Affairs Unit at Al-Huwaija Technical College works to empower women academically and socially by organizing awareness lectures, intellectual competitions, and art exhibitions that highlight their achievements. The unit aims to support female students and employees and enhance their role in facing challenges.
About the Women's Affairs Unit
The Women's Affairs Unit at Al-Huwaijah Technical College is a vital part of the college structure, focusing on empowering women and enhancing their role in the academic and local community. The unit supervises the organization of various events, including awareness lectures, such as a lecture on breast cancer symptoms to raise awareness of the importance of early detection, and mental intelligence competitions in cooperation with the Artistic Activities Unit to enhance intellectual skills. The unit also organized an art exhibition entitled "Women Defying Life's Difficulties" to highlight women's contributions to facing challenges. These activities aim to support women and develop their capabilities in various fields.
Women acquire, develop and advance skills and knowledge to become effective and efficient community members and leaders who participate in decision-making, influence its formulation and strategic activation, in a way that meets the nation’s needs in the current and future stages.
- Empowering women to be key players in achieving sustainable development in a country that guarantees all their constitutional rights, makes them capable of dealing with challenges, enhances their role in all fields, achieves full protection for them, and guarantees them – without any discrimination – economic, social and political opportunities that enable them to enhance their capabilities to advance the country’s status.
1- Work to increase the percentage of women leaders in the Ministry of Higher Education by highlighting women’s competencies and achievements.
2- Develop the scientific capabilities of women in higher education by working to facilitate and support their participation in local and international conferences.
3- Enhance women’s participation in economic development by supporting entrepreneurial projects and technological incubators.
4- Obtain support from the international community and local and international organizations to contribute to the implementation of United Nations resolutions on women.
5- Increase community awareness of the status of women and their rights and combat violence by holding more courses and conducting research with specialized centers.
6- Improve the image of women in the media in all its forms, visual, audio and written.
7- Honoring creative and distinguished Iraqi women in their fields of specialization through creative awards or making documentaries about their achievements.
8- Support young female researchers who complete distinguished research at an early age in the doctoral stage according to specialized committees that select distinguished works for the purpose of supporting them. 9- Working to integrate the concept of gender into the Ministry’s plans and programmes.
