Hawija Technical College organizes an awareness lecture entitled (Symptoms of breast cancer)
Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Danouk, Dean of the College.
The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Hawija Technical College organized an awareness lecture on the symptoms of breast cancer within Breast Cancer Awareness Month for female students in scientific departments.
She explained the lecture in which Mrs. Wasan Abdul Rahman Ali and Mrs. Samah Adnan Yousef lectured
Definition of breast cancer and the risk that contributes to the occurrence of cancer,
and the most prominent symptoms and signs that can be observed on the breast in terms of changes in shape,
size, color and appearance, as well as an explanation of the role of psychological and moral support in treatment and overcoming the disease.
The lecture aimed to introduce the students to the symptoms of breast cancer and its early detection
The lecture concluded with the necessity of performing periodic self-examination for early detection of breast cancer,
consulting a doctor if any abnormal signs appear in the breast area or under the armpit,
and paying attention to spreading cultural awareness among segments of society regarding the seriousness of this disease and ways to prevent it.
Doing exercise for at least four hours a week
Adhering to a healthy, low-fat diet
And stay away from smoking and alcohol
Mammography once every two years after the age of thirty and once every year after the age of forty
Avoid taking estrogen hormones for long periods
